Prof. (Dr.) Namita Gupta is Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology, Delhi, a role she assumed following her joining in November 1999. Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology University, Noida, in 2012, focused on “Text Mining for Information Retrieval”; an MCA, achieved as second topper, from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, in 1998; and a B.Sc. (General) in Computer Science with First Division from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University, in 1995. Prof. Gupta's research specializations and academic interests lie in Data Mining, Unix/Linux, Databases, Java, and Software Testing. She leads the department to maintain excellence in teaching and research, overseeing curriculum development aligned with industry needs and fostering a supportive academic environment.
Over her extensive career at MAIT, Prof. Gupta has earned recognition through awards such as the Best Performance Award in 2007 and DB2 Certification in 2008. She has completed advanced trainings including Innovation Ambassador programs by MoE's Innovation Cell and AICTE, and Mentor Orientation under NITTT. Key appointments include MAIT SPOC for Smart India Hackathon and Toycathon-2021, President of Institute Innovation Council, Conference Chair for ICITETM2020, convener for GGSIPU syllabus revision, and expert on the Board of Studies at Maharaja Agrasen University. Under her leadership, the department secured NBA accreditation for 2018-2021. Her scholarly contributions feature edited proceedings of SNSFAIT 2023 and ICITETM2020 (Procedia Computer Science, Elsevier), the book “Smart and Sustainable Intelligent Systems” (Scrivener Publishing, 2021), and papers like “Credit Card Fraud Detection using Pipelining and Ensemble Learning” (Procedia Computer Science, 2020), “Video To Text Analysis: Deep Learning” (IJSER, 2019), “Document Summarization based on Sentence Ranking Using Vector Space Model” (IJDMMM, 2013), and an Indian Patent Application No. 202011053925 for “Ignition of Motor Vehicle Engine using a fingerprint using IoT Technology” (2021). These efforts highlight her substantial influence in computer science education, innovation, and research.
