Great Professor!
Dr. Raahib Dudhia is a Senior Lecturer in Dentomaxillofacial Radiology and Discipline Lead for Dento-Maxillofacial Radiology at the School of Dentistry, University of Queensland. He completed his Bachelor of Dental Science with First Class Honours (BDSc Hons I) in 2002 and his Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Dento-Maxillofacial Radiology (DClinDent) in 2008 at the University of Queensland. Prior to postgraduate training, he worked for three years in private dental practice in Brisbane, where his practice installed one of the first cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanners in Queensland, providing early exposure to this technology. Dudhia holds Membership of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in Dento-Maxillofacial Radiology (MRACDS DMFR), admitted in 2020.
Dudhia's academic interests center on dentomaxillofacial imaging, including CBCT accuracy for image registration with intraoral scans, metal artifact reduction, alveolar ridge augmentation outcomes post-third molar extraction, risk factors for small pharyngeal airway dimensions in preorthodontic children, upper airway margins and protocols assessed by CBCT, positioning errors and distortion in mandibular third molar regions on panoramic radiographs, and implant radiography. Key publications co-authored by him include: Quach et al., 'The periodontal benefits of alveolar ridge augmentation with xenograft following third molar extraction: a randomised controlled trial' (Journal of Clinical Periodontology, 2025); Biun et al., 'The influence of metal artifact reduction on the trueness of registration of a cone-beam computed tomography scan with an intraoral scan in the presence of severe restoration artifact' (Journal of Prosthodontics, 2024); Biun et al., 'The in-vitro accuracy of fiducial marker-based versus markerless registration of an intraoral scan with a cone-beam computed tomography scan' (Clinical Oral Implants Research, 2023); Anandarajah et al., 'Risk factors for small pharyngeal airway dimensions in preorthodontic children: A three-dimensional study' (The Angle Orthodontist, 2016); Dudhia et al., 'Accuracy of angular measurements and assessment of distortion in the mandibular third molar region on panoramic radiographs' (Oral Surgery Oral Medicine Oral Pathology Oral Radiology and Endodontics, 2011); and Monsour and Dudhia, 'Implant radiography and radiology' (Australian Dental Journal, 2008). He serves as President of the Australasian Academy of Dento-Maxillofacial Radiology, operates Dental Diagnostics in Brisbane, offers online radiology consultancy, and delivers lectures on dental imaging across Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. At UQ, he teaches radiography and has lectured on special needs dentistry since 2018.
