Dr. Mintu Pal, PhD, serves as Additional Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda. He previously held the position of Associate Professor and Head of the same department. Earlier in his career, Dr. Pal was a SERB-DST Ramanujan Fellow and Assistant Professor at the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR). His academic trajectory reflects a strong commitment to advancing pharmacological research within medical sciences.
Dr. Pal's research specializes in cancer research, with key contributions to understanding signal transduction pathways, tumor biomarkers, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and nanocarrier systems for anticancer drug delivery. Prominent publications include 'Role of p38 MAP kinase signal transduction in solid tumors' (Genes & Cancer, 2013), 'Functionalized carbon nanomaterials as nanocarriers for loading and delivery of a poorly water-soluble anticancer drug: a comparative study' (Chemical Communications, 2011), 'Predictive and prognostic biomarkers in colorectal cancer: A systematic review of recent advances and challenges' (Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy, 2017), 'Angiopoietin-like 4 protein elevates the prosurvival intracellular O2−: H2O2 ratio and confers anoikis resistance to tumors' (Cancer Cell, 2011), and 'The basics of epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT): A study from a structure, dynamics, and functional perspective' (Journal of Cellular Physiology, 2019). More recent works encompass 'Biosensors based detection of novel biomarkers associated with SARS-CoV-2' (2022), 'Polymer grafted magnetic graphene oxide as a potential nanocarrier' (2022), and serving as editorial lead for 'Multi-omics approaches in cancer research with applications in tumour prognosis' (2023). His scholarly impact is highlighted by an h-index of 29 and i10-index of 42, as reported in AIIMS Bathinda's 2022-23 annual report, along with inclusion in Stanford University's World's Top 2% Scientists list. At AIIMS Bathinda, Dr. Pal contributes to institutional governance through roles on committees such as the Research Advisory Committee and as Undergraduate Boys' Hostel Superintendent. He has also organized academic events like PKPDCON 2023.
