About Min

Professor Min Zhang is a Professor in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, leading the Applied Superconductivity Laboratory. She received her PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, following Bachelor and Master degrees in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University. Her career trajectory includes serving as a Junior Research Fellow at Newnham College, Cambridge for one year, then as a Lecturer at the University of Bath. She joined the University of Strathclyde as a Reader in 2018 and was appointed as the first female Professor in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering in 2021. A Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET), she held a Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellowship and received an ERC grant funded by UKRI in 2022.

Professor Zhang's research specializes in the application of high-temperature superconductors in aviation electrification, fusion, and renewable energy applications. Her contributions advance cryogenic propulsion systems and zero-emission transport technologies, supporting SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy. Notable awards include the Jan Evetts Superconductor Science and Technology Award 2019 Second Prize, Superconductor Science and Technology 2018 Reviewer Awards, IOP Reviewer Awards 2017, Jan Evetts SUST Award 2017, and Superconductor Science and Technology highlights of 2017.
