Michelle Brown is a Lecturer in the School of Social Work and Social Care, College of Education, Behavioural and Social Sciences at Adelaide University. She is a qualified and accredited social worker and holds accreditation as a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), including schools accreditation. Brown brings over 20 years of experience working with children, young people, and families. For the past 13 years, she has focused on school-based roles, supporting young people's wellbeing and their engagement in learning. Concurrently, she has supervised school-based social work students and taught courses in social work and human services.
Brown's research interests include school-based social work practice. Her publications feature the co-authored article 'Overcoming fear of conflict in group work: reflections from practice and teaching' with Michele Jarldorn, published in Social Work with Groups (47(1), 79-94, 2024). She has also contributed to 'Sexual identities and sexuality in social work: Research and reflections from women in the field' (Routledge, 2016).
