Megan Ashker serves as Associate Teaching Professor in Respiratory Care Technology within the Department of Applied Sciences at Bowling Green State University Firelands, a position she has held since August 2013. Her academic background includes a Master of Science in Career and Technical Education from Ferris State University, a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Notre Dame College, and an Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Care Technology from Bowling Green State University. As an alumnus of BGSU with her associate degree earned around 2005, Ashker brings practical experience from her career as a respiratory therapist to her teaching role. She was promoted to lecturer in 2019 by the BGSU Board of Trustees, recognizing her contributions to the Respiratory Care program. Ashker is dedicated to educating students in respiratory therapy, emphasizing hands-on learning experiences in laboratory settings to develop both passion and professional skills for this rewarding healthcare profession.
In her courses, Ashker covers essential topics in the field, including Principles of Respiratory Care II (RESP 1210), Pulmonary Pathophysiology (RESP 2030), Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Care (RESP 2400), Advanced Critical Care (RESP 4500), Research Methods in Public and Allied Health (PUBH 3300), Allied Health Educator (AHTH 3100), and Medical Terminology (AHS 3010). She serves as the academic advisor for Respiratory Care students based at the Lorain County Community College satellite campus, guiding program admissions and supporting their pathway to the Bachelor of Applied Health Science in Respiratory Care. Located in office GMH 324E at BGSU Firelands, Ashker contributes to the health sciences education community, fostering student growth and preparing graduates for clinical roles in respiratory care. Her involvement extends to faculty senate activities, where she has participated in motions and discussions on academic matters.
