About Md. Mijanur

Prof. Dr. Md. Mijanur Rahman serves as a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU), Trishal, Mymensingh, Bangladesh, a role he has occupied since May 12, 2018. He has been a dedicated faculty member at JKKNIU since the university's establishment in April 2008, initially joining as a Lecturer (2008-2011), followed by promotions to Assistant Professor (April 2011-April 2015) and Associate Professor (April 2015-May 2018). Prior to his academic career at JKKNIU, Rahman worked as an Instructor (Technical) in Computer at the Government Polytechnic Institute under the Directorate of Technical Education, Bangladesh, from December 2005 to April 2008. He also headed the Computer Department at Jhenaidah Polytechnic Institute during 2006-2007 and managed the technical aspects of the “Preparation of Voter List and NID Card” project in Sathkhira District under the Bangladesh Army from 2007 to 2008.

Rahman holds a B.Sc. (Honours) and M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from Islamic University, Kushtia, Bangladesh, both achieved with first-class first positions. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka, in August 2014, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Md. Al-Amin Bhuiyan. Additionally, he is a Post-Doctoral Fellow under the UGC Post-Doctoral Fellowship 2022 granted by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, commencing from January 2023. His research specializations include Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Digital Speech and Image Processing, Neural Networks, Internet of Things (IoT), and Biometric Technology. Rahman has authored two notable books: Pandemic vs Technology: AI and 5G Powered Emerging Technologies and Applications (Notion Press, 2023, ISBN: 9798888496268) and Continuous Bangla Speech Processing: Segmentation, Classification and Recognition (bpi publication, 2022, ISBN: 978-93-5547-173-4). Key publications encompass “Challenges and Prospective of AI and 5G-Enabled Technologies in Emerging Applications during the Pandemic” (2023), “Dynamic Thresholding with Short-Time Signal Features in Continuous Bangla Speech Segmentation” (2023), “The evolving roles and impacts of 5G enabled technologies in healthcare: The world epidemic COVID-19 issues” (2022), “A Comprehensive Study of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Approaches in Confronting the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic” (2021), and “Speech Recognition Front-end for Segmenting and Clustering Continuous Bangla Speech” (2010). He has led multiple JKKNIU-funded projects, such as advanced dynamic thresholding for Bangla speech segmentation (2022-2023) and secure minutiae-based fingerprint template generation (2019-2020). Rahman is a member of the IEEE Bangladesh section since 2020.
