Malar Jayaprakash is the Project Coordinator (Learning and Teaching) in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Curtin University, Perth, Australia. She works within the Science and Engineering Academic Development Team, part of the Office of the Provost, where she supports enhancements to learning and teaching practices across the faculty. Her career at Curtin University encompasses diverse roles across its international campuses. From January 2008 to December 2009, she served as Dean and Director of the Learning Centre at Curtin University Sarawak. Earlier, from February 2004 to December 2007, she was a Lecturer at Curtin University Malaysia, affiliated with the School of Business and the Department of Accounting and Business Information Systems.
Malar Jayaprakash holds a Master of Education from the University of Western Australia and is pursuing a Doctorate in Education at Curtin University. Her professional focus lies in higher education pedagogy, curriculum development, and service quality measurement in academic institutions. She has co-authored peer-reviewed publications, including 'Measurement of performance at institutions of higher learning: the balanced scorecard approach' (2008, International Journal of Managerial and Financial Accounting), with co-authors A. Krishnan, K.M. Chan, J.M. Shaikh, and A.H.B.M. Isa; 'A research framework using SERVQUAL instrument to measure service quality in higher education institutions' (2009, International Journal of Value Chain Management), with A. Ramaiyah and A.N.M. Zain; and more recently, 'Equity by Design: Applying Equity-Centred Design Thinking to Curriculum Development' (2025). Additionally, she participated in the HERDSA 2025 conference and nominated colleagues for the Vice-Chancellor's Excellence Awards for Professional Staff in 2019.
