About Maduka

Dr. Maduka Subasinghage is a Senior Lecturer in Business Analytics and Information Systems within the Management and Organisations Department at the UWA Business School, University of Western Australia. She holds a PhD in Information Systems from Queensland University of Technology, where her dissertation examined 'The Impact of Modularization on Information System Development Outsourcing Project Control,' and a Bachelor (Honours) in Information and Communication Technology from the University of Colombo. With over ten years of lecturing experience in Australia and New Zealand, including previous positions at Auckland University of Technology and Queensland University of Technology, she also possesses industry experience as a business analyst in software development. Currently, she coordinates the Master of Business Information and Logistics Management program and teaches courses such as Enterprise Information Systems, Business Intelligence, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Subasinghage's research centers on cutting-edge digital technologies, including big data analytics, artificial intelligence, information security, and knowledge management. Her publications feature in leading journals like Information and Management, The Journal of Knowledge Management, Enterprise Information Systems, Communications of the AIS, Information Systems Frontiers, and VINE: The Journal of Information and Knowledge Management Systems. Key works include 'A double-edged sword: AI use by software developers–a netnography study' (2025, ICIS Proceedings), 'Effective Use of Enterprise Social Networks for Knowledge Sharing in Organizations' (2025, Knowledge and Process Management), 'Orchestrating resources for Big data analytics implementation in manufacturing SMEs' (2025, Production Planning and Control), and 'Detecting Bot-based Abuse and its Impacts on Open-Source Platforms' (2024, ICIS Proceedings). She led a winning team in the ICIS 2024 Paper-A-Thon competition and is an Associated Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PR109936). Funding achievements encompass principal investigator roles in the UWA Business School Research Award (2025) on cybersecurity and generative AI, and co-investigator on the Matariki Network Seed Fund (2026). Actively engaged in academia, she serves as Program Co-chair for ACIS 2026, Track Chair for ECIS 2025, and UWA representative for ACPHIS, while supervising PhD and other students and delivering invited lectures at Edith Cowan University, UWA orientations, and institutions in Sri Lanka, including a keynote at BISSS 2022.
