Dr. M. S. Karthikeyan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Anna University, Chennai, with expertise in water resources engineering. He obtained his B.E. from Bharathiar University in 1998, M.E. from Anna University in 2000, and Ph.D. from Anna University in 2022. His career at Anna University commenced on January 8, 2001, as a Teaching Associate at the Centre for Water Resources. He advanced to Teaching Fellow from 2006 to 2007, Assistant Professor from 2007 to 2012, Assistant Professor on Senior Scale from 2012 to 2017 at the Centre for Water Resources, Assistant Professor Selection Grade from 2017 to 2020 in the Department of Civil Engineering, and has held his current position since 2020. Karthikeyan maintains active professional memberships as a Life Member of the Indian Association of Hydrologists since 2006 and the Indian Water Resources Society since 2006.
Dr. Karthikeyan's research focuses on groundwater modelling, flood modelling, transient analysis, the impact of climate change on water resources, experimental hydraulics, hydraulics, hydrology, and water resources engineering. He has authored key publications, including 'Groundwater modeling and demarcation of groundwater protection zones for Tirupur Basin–A case study' (2011, Journal of Hydro-environment Research), 'Hybrid optimization model for conjunctive use of surface and groundwater resources in water deficit irrigation system' (2021, Water Science and Technology), 'Flood Vulnerability Mapping of Cooum River, Chennai' (2015, Journal of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences), and 'Use of Groundwater Model to Study the Interaction of Coastal Aquaculture and Irrigation Practices on Groundwater Vulnerability' (2015, International Conference on XVth World Water Congress, Edinburgh, Scotland). Additionally, he has participated in one research project, accumulating 33 citations on Google Scholar.
