About M

Dr. M. Pradeep Kumar is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, Chennai, a position he has held since 2013. His academic career at Anna University progressed from Teaching Associate (2001-2004), Lecturer (2004-2007), Assistant Professor (2007-2010), to Associate Professor (2010-2013). He also holds the role of Director at the AU-FRG Institute for CAD/CAM. Kumar obtained his Ph.D. in 2004 and M.E. in 1998 from Anna University, Chennai. With more than two decades of teaching and research experience in engineering, his work centers on advanced manufacturing processes, emphasizing cryogenic cooling in machining operations including turning, milling, drilling, grinding, broaching, and EDM of difficult-to-machine materials.

His extensive publication record comprises 94 journal articles, 1 book chapter, 27 conference proceedings, and 1 review from 2003 to 2025. Prominent works include "Performance of coated and uncoated cutting tools using flood and cryogenic liquid in machining titanium alloy" (2025), "Enhancing machining performance of Inconel 625 through cryogenic cooling in face milling-EDAS optimization and AI prediction" (2025), "Optimization of turning parameter on surface roughness, cutting force and temperature through TOPSIS" (2023), "Influences of cryogenic CO2 and LN2 on surface integrity of inconel 625 during face milling" (2021), "Experimental investigation of dry and cryogenic broaching of AISI 4340 steel" (2020), and "Effect of LN2 and CO2 coolants in milling of 55NiCrMoV7 steel" (2020). Employing optimization methods such as TOPSIS, EDAS, ANOVA, and fuzzy approaches, these studies enhance surface quality, tool life, and reduce forces and temperatures. Dr. Kumar boasts an h-index of 32 with over 3,200 Google Scholar citations and 2,833 Scopus citations. He has supervised 18 Ph.D. theses on cryogenic and eco-friendly machining techniques for alloys like Ti-6Al-4V, Inconel 625, and SS304. Honors include Outstanding Accomplishments as an Academician (2022), Active Consultant Award (2021), Best Paper Award at ICETME 2021, and GATE All India Rank 811 (1995). He maintains life memberships in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Indian Society for Technical Education, and others, and serves on research advisory committees and boards of studies.
