Lolita Araim is a Lecturer in the Department of Accountancy at the Craig School of Business, California State University, Fresno. She earned her M.B.A. from California State University, Fresno in 2012 and was selected as a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society, which recognizes the top-performing students in business programs accredited by AACSB International. Prior to her MBA, Araim completed a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accountancy from the same university in 1995, during which she was inducted into the Beta Alpha Psi National Honor Society, an international honorary organization for accounting, finance, and information systems students and professionals.
In her academic appointment at Fresno State, Araim teaches ACCT 187: Accounting Ethics and Professional Responsibilities, preparing students for the ethical challenges in the accounting profession. She has contributed to innovative educational efforts, including a pilot program designed to train business students for career readiness. According to Araim, the program has yielded positive results, with students reporting increased comfort in job applications, greater confidence in self-presentation, improved communication skills, and enhanced ability to handle professional situations. Previously, Araim held key roles in public finance, serving as Accounting and Financial Division Chief at the Fresno County Auditor-Controller/Treasurer Tax Collector office from 2013 to 2017. She also worked as an Accountant-Auditor for Fresno County in 2011 and 2012. Currently, she is a Senior Financial Analyst Investigator at FSA while maintaining her part-time faculty position. Araim is the President of the Fresno Area Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and has presented accounting ethics training events for professional continuing education credits. Her professional certifications include IMA Leadership Academy Bronze Level (2017) and Blackboard Student Orientation from Fresno State (2017).
