Ms. Lisa Mahoney is a Lecturer in the School of Education within the College of Education, Behavioural and Social Sciences at Adelaide University. With more than 25 years of teaching experience in schools across the state, country, and internationally, she specializes in sharing her lived experiences to enrich academic instruction. Mahoney earned her Bachelor Degree in Primary/Middle School from Flinders University, where her teaching primarily focused on upper primary levels (Years 5-10) in general classrooms and Physical Education from Foundation to Year 9. She completed her Master of Education in 2021 to further complement her university role. Upon joining the University of South Australia—now integrated into Adelaide University—as a Lecturer and Teaching Academic in Education Futures, she has taught and coordinated courses in the postgraduate Master of Teaching program, with an emphasis on Health and Physical Education. Her undergraduate contributions include courses in Health and Physical Education and Creating Positive Learning Environments.
Mahoney's current teaching responsibilities include coordinating and delivering EDUC 2006 Health and Physical Education (2024, 2025), EDUC 2062 Professional Experience 2: Curriculum and Pedagogy (2024, 2025), EDUC 2078 Foundations in Learning and Teaching 2: Creating Positive Learning Environments (2024, 2025), EDUC 4219 Specialisation in Health and Physical Education (2024, 2025), EDUC 5252 Curriculum and Pedagogy 2 (Arts and Health and PE) (2024, 2025), EDUC 5254 Curriculum and Pedagogy 4 (HASS and Health and PE) (2024, 2025), and EDUC 5294 Reflexive Practice and Professional Experience 2: Inquiry into Practice (2024). She is passionate about supporting students' lived and embodied experiences of physical activity through a pedagogy of joy. In addition, she joined the Academic Integrity team starting in SP5 2023.
