Lili Daniela Cañar Rivas earned her Licenciatura en Contabilidad y Auditoría from the Universidad Nacional de Loja's Facultad Jurídica, Social y Administrativa in 2025, aligning with the Business & Economics discipline. Her Trabajo de Integración Curricular, titled "Propuesta de un Plan de Capacitación para el Desarrollo Organizacional en las Cajas de Ahorro de la Comunidad de Oñacapac," was directed by Mg. Sc. Carlos Nelson Cobos Suárez. This work underscores the fundamental role of financial education in driving economic and social development by enabling informed decisions on resource management, thereby promoting savings, investment, and responsible financial administration. Specifically addressing the savings and loan cooperatives in the Oñacapac community, where limited financial knowledge impedes sustainability, efficiency, member welfare, and organizational progress, the thesis proposes a targeted training plan to bolster financial management expertise among participants and optimize cooperative operations.
Employing a descriptive and qualitative approach, the study incorporated techniques such as direct observation, extensive bibliographic review, and focus group discussions with cooperative members. A comprehensive diagnosis of financial needs, through varied data collection and analytical methods, pinpointed primary obstacles and enhancement prospects in both organizational governance and individual financial practices. Drawing from this analysis, Rivas developed a modular training program for directors covering the popular and solidarity economy, financial decision-making processes, and associated obligations, duties, and responsibilities to cultivate leadership capabilities and strategic acumen for seamless organizational performance. A parallel program for members emphasizes cultivating a robust financial culture alongside hands-on instruction in savings strategies, investment options, credit mechanisms, and entrepreneurial ventures, furnishing essential competencies for proficient oversight of personal, familial, and communal finances. Integrating tailored pedagogical methods and accessible educational resources, the initiative facilitates straightforward adoption within cooperative settings. Overall, these interventions aim to fortify financial governance, ensure transparency in resource allocation, advance economic independence for members, and propel enduring advancement for the cooperatives and Oñacapac community alike.
