Laura Bojke is Professor of Health Economics at the Centre for Health Economics, University of York, within the Department of Health Sciences. She joined the Centre in 1999 as a Research Fellow and has progressed through Senior Research Fellow and Reader positions to her current professorship. In 2025, Professors Laura Bojke and Andrea Manca received long service awards from the University of York for 26 years each in the Centre. She completed her PhD in Economics at the University of York in 2008, titled 'Characterising structural uncertainty within decision analytic models'. Professor Bojke leads the Economic Evaluation theme at the Centre and co-leads the Health Economics, Evaluation and Equality theme for the Applied Research Collaboration Yorkshire and Humber with Tracey Young at the University of Sheffield. Her research focuses on expert elicitation for decision analytic models, structural uncertainty assessment, extrapolation of costs and benefits beyond trial evidence, value-based pricing, cost-effectiveness modeling for public health interventions, arthritis and musculoskeletal diseases particularly psoriatic arthritis, health and the environment, emergency care challenges, NHS service configuration using routine data, and economic evaluation methods for social care.
Professor Bojke has contributed to National Institute for Health and Care Excellence technology appraisals through independent academic groups and serves as a member of Technology Appraisal Committee A. She is also a member of the NIHR Health Services and Delivery Research Researcher Prioritisation Committee, chair of the Centre's Equality and Diversity committee, and deputy chair of the equality and diversity action group. In December 2023, she was appointed Inaugural Chair of the World Health Organization Technical Advisory Group on Economics for Environment, Climate Change and Health. Key publications include 'Characterizing Structural Uncertainty in Decision Analytic Models: A Review and Application of Methods' (2009, Value in Health), 'Experiences of structured elicitation for model based cost-effectiveness analyses' (2018, PharmacoEconomics), 'Developing a reference protocol for structured expert elicitation in health technology assessment' (2021, Health Technology Assessment), and 'Social inclusion of people with severe mental illness: a review of current practices, evidence and unmet needs, and future directions' (2026, World Psychiatry). She serves on the editorial board of PharmacoEconomics and has produced over 86 research articles.
