Dr. Lane Hansel currently holds the position of Professor and Chair of the Department of Applied Science in the College of Arts and Sciences at Maranatha Baptist University. He transitioned to this role in 2020 after serving nine years as the administrator of Maranatha Baptist Academy since joining the Maranatha community in 2011. Throughout his time at the academy, Dr. Hansel concurrently taught courses within the Department of Applied Science and the School of Education. Prior to his appointment at Maranatha Baptist University, he accumulated fourteen years of experience in New Hampshire, teaching science, mathematics, and Bible courses, coaching sports teams, and serving as an Academic Supervisor. His approach to leadership centers on cultivating a collaborative team environment, actively incorporating input from faculty and staff, and prioritizing support for their professional growth and family well-being. In his current capacity as department chair, Dr. Hansel is dedicated to promoting a culture of teamwork between faculty and students, boosting enrollment in the Applied Science programs, strengthening ties with alumni, and broadening the scope of degree programs and course offerings. He plans to utilize his deep knowledge of biology to enrich the academic depth of these programs.
Dr. Lane Hansel's academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Bob Jones University, a Master of Science degree in Microbiology from Clemson University, a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Bob Jones University, and a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Bob Jones University. Additionally, he is pursuing a Master of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Clemson University. Dr. Hansel teaches subjects such as biology, educational leadership, science, mathematics, and Bible. He further contributes to the university community as the Assistant Coach for the men's soccer team at Maranatha Baptist University and as a leader of a campus small group.
