Rate My Professor Lambis Petridis

Professor Lambis Petridis is the Professor and Chair of Prosthodontics at UCL Eastman Dental Institute, University College London, where he also directs the MClinDent Prosthodontics (Advanced Training) programme. He earned his DDS from the Dental School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1994, followed by a Certificate in Prosthodontics and an MSc from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, USA, in 1997 and 1998, respectively. Petridis completed his PhD at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2001 and attained Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in 2018 in recognition of his teaching excellence. His career includes serving as an Assistant Professor in Prosthodontics at Aristotle University Dental School, joining UCL Eastman in 2012 as Associate Professor in the Prosthodontic Unit, and promotion to his current professorial chair in 2019. He holds an Honorary Consultant position at the Royal London Hospital and Eastman Dental Hospital and maintains a private practice focused on restorative, aesthetic, and implant dentistry since 2000.

Petridis's research specializations encompass prosthodontics, dental implants, aesthetic dentistry, CAD/CAM technologies, digital clinical and laboratory workflows, implant-abutment connections, biomaterial testing for provisional restorations, and perceptual color matching in dentistry. He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, including the systematic review 'Non-original Abutments Using Various Connection Geometries for Single Unit Restorations' published in the Journal of Prosthodontics in 2022 and 'Bridging instrumental and visual perception with improved color difference equations: A multi-center study' in Dental Materials in 2024. His contributions have advanced digital dentistry infrastructure at UCL Eastman, enhancing teaching and global reputation. Petridis received the 2024 UCL Provost's Education Award for Improving the Student Experience through innovative digital workflows and the 2016 Eastman Dental Institute Star Award. He is a GDC-registered Prosthodontics specialist, ITI Fellow and Speaker, and member of the International College of Prosthodontists, Academy of Osseointegration, European Prosthodontic Association, and British Society for Prosthodontics. Petridis delivers invited lectures at international conferences on implant prosthodontics and related topics.
