A true mentor who cares about success.
Professor Krzysztof Mendrok is a leading academic and administrator at AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, Poland, currently serving as Vice-Rector for Education from 2024 to 2028. He graduated with an MSc from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics at AGH in 1999. Mendrok earned his PhD in 2003 with a thesis titled 'Application of energy propagation analysis algorithms in structures for load identification in mechanical systems,' supervised by Professor Tadeusz Uhl. He obtained his habilitation (DSc) in 2012 based on the dissertation 'Inverse problem in structural health monitoring' and was appointed full professor in 2024. Beginning his career in 1999 at the Chair of Robotics and Machine Dynamics within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics, he progressed through roles including assistant since 2003, Deputy Head of the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics, Vice-Dean for Students, and Dean of the Faculty from 2020 to 2024. He has chaired the Discipline Council for Mechanical Engineering and served on various faculty and university committees.
Mendrok's research specializes in mechanical engineering, focusing on dynamics of mechanical and mechatronic systems, vibration methods for damage detection and load identification, structural health monitoring, non-contact measurements using high-speed cameras and lasers, and artificial intelligence algorithms in technical diagnostics. He is the author or co-author of four monographs, over 130 scientific publications with more than 540 citations, and one patent. Key publications include 'Indirect Measurement of Loading Forces with High-Speed Camera' (2021), 'Force Identification Based on Response Signals Captured by High-Speed Camera' (2023), and 'Automatic Threshold Setting for Anomaly Detection' (2025). He has led national and international research and educational projects and authored dozens of industrial expertise reports. Among his honors is the Stanisław Staszic Medal from AGH. Mendrok is a member of the Board of the Polish Society for Technical Diagnostics and the Committee of Machine Building of the Polish Academy of Sciences, contributing significantly to advancements in non-destructive testing and smart engineering diagnostics.
