Kristina Moleni serves as Assistant Professor of Social Work in the Department of Social Work and Gerontology at Weber State University, joining the institution in 2012 initially as an Instructor. She holds a BS from Brigham Young University (2004), an MSW from the University of Utah (2009), and a PhD from the University of Utah College of Social Work (2021). Her doctoral dissertation, "Wayfinding in Higher Education," explores navigation challenges in academic settings and was submitted in 2020.
Moleni has made significant contributions to teaching excellence, earning the Presidential Teaching Excellence Award in 2020, which included a $5,000 stipend for professional development or research. She received the Faculty Recognition Award for Spring Semester 2015 at the WSU Davis Campus. Actively involved in program development, she proposed and supported new MSW courses including SW 6760 Foundation Field I, SW 6761 Foundation Field II, SW 6860 Advanced Field I, and SW 6861 Advanced Field II through Faculty Senate proceedings in 2020. Moleni teaches core courses such as MSW 6010 Foundations of Social Work and advanced field practicum seminars, as evidenced in program syllabi and self-study documents from 2023. Her scholarly output includes co-authorship on "Measuring Recidivism in Juvenile Corrections" in the OJJDP Journal of Juvenile Justice (2013), "Failing to Bend the Arc of the Moral Universe? Dr. King, Newton, Piaget, and Social Work" in Critical Social Work (2022), "A Systematic Review of Motivational Interviewing Infused Interventions for Behavior Change: A Focus on Recent Advances" in Research on Social Work Practice (2024), and lead authorship on "How Can My Role Support You in Your Role? Collaborative Practices from the Perspective of an Elementary Teacher and a School Social Worker," published in the Journal of the Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters (2024). She featured as a guest on Weber State University's Wildcat Conversations podcast Episode 7, addressing personal reflection on racism. Moleni contributed to the MSW program's 2023 accreditation self-study and received research funding through the RSPG in 2023-2024.
