Dr. Koren Ganas is a registered clinical psychologist holding endorsement in clinical psychology and recognition as a board-approved supervisor with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She possesses over 15 years of professional experience and holds a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in clinical psychology, a Master of Arts (MA) in clinical psychology, advanced training in psychopharmacology, and a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Sciences (BA), all obtained from institutions in the United States. Her clinical training includes a predoctoral internship in paediatric and rehabilitation neuropsychology and a postdoctoral residency in child and adolescent mental health through the Arizona Psychology Training Consortium (APTC). While her early career emphasized child psychology, she has more than 10 years of experience working with adults confronting complex mental health challenges. Dr. Ganas specializes in dynamic, emotion-focused, cognitive, and neurobiologically informed psychological therapies, providing tailored, compassionate care for issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, burnout, and high-performance demands.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Ganas has significantly contributed to medical and allied health education. She served as Director of Behavioral Health at the Deaconess Family Medicine Residency in Indiana. At the University of Illinois College of Medicine, she was Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Science Education and Clinical Assistant Professor and Clerkship Director in the Department of Psychiatry. In 2022, she joined the University of South Australia as Lecturer in Clinical Psychology, with her profile now listed under the Adelaide University People Directory. Dr. Ganas actively engages in professional bodies as Treasurer of the Trauma & Psychology Interest Group of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), and as a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and Animal Therapies Ltd. Her academic interests encompass education and learning involving animals and therapy animals, serving children, youth, and adults in areas such as social and emotional skills development, adversity, grief, traumatic brain injury, complex trauma, veterans, first responders, psychological injury, psychiatric conditions, and ADHD.
