Dr. Kiran P serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Security) at RNS Institute of Technology (RNSIT) in Bengaluru. She earned her Ph.D. from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in 2014, M.Tech. from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), Mysore in 2003, and B.E. With more than 24 years of teaching experience, she has been with RNSIT since August 2003, following three years at Vidya Vardhaka Engineering College from 2000 to 2003. Her academic specializations include Database Management Systems, Data Structures and Algorithms, and Unix Shell Programming. Dr. Kiran P's research focuses on Cryptography, Privacy Preserving Data Mining (PPDM), Data Privacy Techniques, Randomization and Anonymization Techniques, Indexing Techniques and Design Patterns, Image Processing, and Deep Learning.

Dr. Kiran P has produced over 20 publications in journals and conference proceedings, garnering more than 195 citations on Google Scholar. She co-invented the patent 'Vanar-Sayujya – An Initiative To Save Farmers Crops' in 2023 with Dr. Anjan Kumar. She has obtained seed research grants, such as the project 'Fortifying Smart Campuses' with Dr. Rajkumar R. In addition to her departmental leadership, she contributes to RNSIT's governance through membership in the Research Council, Academic Council, Examinations Committee (Autonomous), INTERNSHIP and PROJECT Committee, and IDP Committee. Dr. Kiran P guides undergraduate research projects on topics like blockchain-based decentralized health monitoring and IcedID malware analysis over Wi-Fi, and she has delivered workshops including 'Cracking the Code of Technical Paper Writing' in October 2024. Her work advances cyber security education and research at RNSIT.
