Professor Dr. Khin Swe Aye is the Professor and Head of the Department of Conservative Dentistry at the University of Dental Medicine, Yangon. She holds the degrees B.D.S., Dip.D.Sc., M.D.Sc., Dr.D.Sc., and F.I.C.C.D.E. In her leadership role, she oversees a department staff that includes Associate Professors Dr. Khin Khin Htwe and Dr. Ohnmar Khin, as well as several lecturers and demonstrators specializing in conservative dentistry. Her academic career is centered at the University of Dental Medicine, Yangon, where she contributes to teaching, research, and clinical training in endodontics and restorative dentistry.
Professor Khin Swe Aye has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications in dental journals. As the corresponding author, she published 'Push-Out Bond Strength of Three Resin Based Root Canal Sealers to Root Dentin' in the Journal of Dental Science - UDMY in 2020, with co-authors Aung Htang, Myint Myint San, and Aung Thein Tun. The study investigated the push-out bond strength of RealSeal SE and AH Plus sealers across different age groups, demonstrating higher bond strength for the methacrylate resin-based RealSeal SE in dentin from individuals aged 30 years and younger, while noting no significant differences in older age groups. Other works include co-authorship on 'In vitro study of Coronal Leakage of Four Temporary Filling Materials Immersed in Alcoholic Methylene Blue Dye' in the Myanmar Dental Journal, evaluating leakage properties of temporary fillings. She contributed to 'Oral Health Literacy in Yangon Teachers' in the Journal of Dental Science - UDMY (2021) and 'Efficacy of Propolis as Antimicrobial Agent against Enterococcus Faecalis: An In Vitro Study' (2022) with San Thida Nyunt and Aung Thein Tun. Professor Khin Swe Aye delivers continuing dental education (CDE) lectures at the University of Dental Medicine, Yangon, including 'Root Canal Obturation' and 'Diagnosis and Management of Oral Ulceration.' She has been recognized in university workshops, such as the Research Methodology workshop for postgraduate students.
