About Khalid

Professor Khalid Hussain serves as the Provost and Professor of Systems Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering and Computing, at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK). With over three decades of academic leadership experience in the UK and Middle East, encompassing teaching, research, and industrial activities, he previously served as Dean of the School of Engineering at AURAK (appointed August 11, 2022), Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences at the University of Wollongong in Dubai for six years, and Head of the School of Engineering at the University of Bradford (UK). A Chartered Mechanical Engineer and member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (UK), he also serves as a member of the UKQAA Institutional Reviewers Committee. He holds a BSc in Applied Mathematics from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, and a PhD in Numerical and Experimental Analysis of Vehicle Noise & Vibration from the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Loughborough University, UK.

Professor Hussain's research specializations include Dynamics and Control, Applied Mathematical Modelling of Engineering Systems, Engineering Dynamics, Vehicle Dynamics, and Vibration. He has published extensively in engineering and applied mathematics. His leadership has advanced academic programs at AURAK in artificial intelligence, sustainability, and engineering innovation, while fostering strong industry collaborations. His expertise covers leadership and management in higher education learning, teaching, and research, curriculum development, quality assurance, and enhancement.
