Kain Lemmens serves as Leading Hand for Campus Services within the Property Services division of the Property and Campus Development Division at the University of Otago's Dunedin campus. His responsibilities include grounds maintenance, ensuring the campus grounds are well-maintained and safe for students, staff, and visitors. In June 2018, Lemmens was involved in winter maintenance activities, working with colleagues to blow leaves into piles beside the Clocktower for removal, promoting cleanliness and safety during the colder months. In October 2019, as part of celebrations for the University's 150th anniversary, he contributed to the establishment of a new garden featuring 20 donated heritage roses, enhancing the aesthetic and historical value of the campus landscape. By July 2020, Lemmens participated in the Property Services team's adoption of electric equipment, such as mowers and other tools, to support more environmentally friendly grounds care practices on the Dunedin campus.
