Dr. K.A. Mohamed Junaid serves as the Principal and Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at R.M.K. Engineering College, Chennai. He holds a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Kongu Engineering College under Bharathiar University, Coimbatore in 1988, an M.E. in Power Electronics from College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, Chennai in 1991, and a Ph.D. in Information and Communication Engineering with a focus on Image Processing and Networks from Anna University, Chennai in 2011. His doctoral thesis, supervised by Dr. G. Ravindran, titled 'Medical Image Transmission through web using secured Network,' underscores his early research interests. With over 35 years of experience in teaching, research, and administration, he began his career as a Lecturer at K.S.R. Institute of Technology in 1988, progressed through various roles including Senior Lecturer and Assistant Professor at Kongu Engineering College from 1991 to 2005, and joined R.M.K. Engineering College in 2005, advancing to Professor and Head, Vice Principal, and Principal since September 2016. He has guided more than 30 undergraduate projects and 20 postgraduate research projects, and played a key role in implementing Outcome Based Education at the institution.

Dr. Junaid's research specializations encompass Electronics, Communication, Instrumentation, Biomedical Image Processing, Healthcare Instrumentation, Telemedicine, Power Electronics, and Networks. He has published over 14 papers in refereed international journals, including 'PV based electric vehicle battery charger using resonant converter' in Renewable Energy Focus (2022), 'Half Bridge Resonant Converter for Electronic Ballast' in Solid State Technology (2020), and 'Artificial Intelligence Enabled Intelligent Quality Management System For Personalized Learning Path' in Procedia Computer Science (2020). Additionally, he has presented more than 25 papers at international and national conferences, such as 'FPGA Accelerator For DSP Image Compression System' at the International Conference on Mechanics in Medicine and Biology (2006). His accolades include the BEST STAFF OF ECE awards in 1997 and 1998, Partners in Excellence Award from Mitsubishi Electric India Private Limited in 2015, Dr. Abdul Kalam Eminent Leadership Award from The Institution of Engineers, India, Kalam Vision 2020 Award, and the IETE Best Engineering College Principal Award. He holds memberships as Senior Member of IEEE, Life Member of ISTE (National Executive Member 2020-2025), Fellow of The Institution of Engineers, India, and others. Dr. Junaid has served on Anna University's Academic Council and Standing Committee, as NAAC Peer Team Member and Evaluator, and organized national and international conferences, FDPs, and events like the Smart India Hackathon 2018 Grand Finale.
