Dr. Justin Kitin serves as a Lecturer in the School of Management and Marketing, Faculty of Business and Law, at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Marketing with a specialization in Tourism from Curtin University, completing his doctoral thesis titled 'The Congruence – Novelty Paradox: Exploring the Effects of Self-Congruence and Novelty on Memorable Tourist Experiences.' This work delves into the psychological dynamics influencing tourists' memorable experiences through the balance of self-congruence and novelty. Prior to his PhD, Kitin obtained a Master's degree and a Bachelor of Arts from Curtin University, establishing a strong academic foundation within the institution.
Kitin's research interests center on tourism marketing, encompassing tourist perceptions of emerging technologies such as wireless tracking systems in travel destinations, destination personality, self-congruity, satisfaction, and loyalty. His key publications include 'The Watchful Eye: Investigating Tourist Perceptions of Different Wireless Tracking Technologies at a Travel Destination' (2023, Current Issues in Tourism), which examines how tourists view various tracking methods and associated privacy implications. Additionally, 'The Congruence – Novelty Paradox: Exploring the Effects of Self-Congruence and Novelty on Memorable Tourist Experiences' (2018, Curtin Business School Marketing Insights) expands on his PhD research. Another significant paper is 'The Pragmatic Influence of Destination Personality and Self-Congruity on Tourist Satisfaction and Loyalty' (2017, Curtin Business School Marketing Insights).
