Dr Jordan Fox serves as a Lecturer in Exercise Science within the School of Allied Health and Human Performance, College of Health, at Adelaide University. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy from Central Queensland University between 2017 and 2020, following a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in 2016 and a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Sciences from 2013 to 2015, also at Central Queensland University. His academic trajectory reflects a strong foundation in sports and exercise sciences.
Dr Fox's research interests span human movement and sports science, performance evaluation, sleep science, sports medicine, and sports science and exercise. He investigates how training and game demands alongside sleep influence performance in team sport athletes, with a particular emphasis on player monitoring in basketball and other court-based sports. His work also extends to research methods and rural health research. He is eligible to supervise higher degree by research students at the Masters and PhD levels.
Throughout his career, Dr Fox has held positions as Lecturer in Exercise Science at the University of South Australia since 2024 and as Lecturer in Research at the University of Queensland from 2021 to 2024. His scholarly output is extensive, featuring numerous peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals. Notable publications include: Biki et al. (2026) "A national investigation on the impact of rurality on standardised clinical aptitude test performance" in Medical Teacher; Stojanović et al. (2025) "Injury Incidence Rate According to Mechanism, Body Location, and Type in Basketball Players: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis" in Sports Medicine; Fox et al. (2025) "A Mixed-methods Systematic Review of Sleep Duration and Quality in Healthcare Workers: Impacts on Patient Safety and Quality of Care" in Behavioral Sleep Medicine; Fox et al. (2025) "Medical school admission processes to target rural applicants: an international scoping review and mapping of Australian practices" in BMC Medical Education; and Scanlan et al. (2025) "Sleep Varies According to Game Venue but Not Season Period in Female Basketball Players" in Applied Sciences. These contributions highlight his impact in sports performance, athlete monitoring, sleep research, and rural health workforce studies.
