Rate My Professor John Eraifej

John Eraifej is an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellow and DPhil candidate at the University of Oxford. He holds a BSc in Biomedical Engineering, a PGDip in Health Research, an MBChB, and Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons. John is a neurosurgery resident whose work is supervised by Professor Alex Green, Professor Robin Cleveland, and Professor Huiling Tan. Prior to his DPhil, he completed an NIHR-funded Academic Clinical Fellowship.

John’s research draws on insights from invasive deep brain stimulation to develop non-invasive transcranial ultrasound stimulation strategies, with reciprocal aims to enhance deep brain stimulation therapies. He employs neuroimaging and electrophysiology techniques to identify targets and assess real-time effects of transcranial ultrasound stimulation. His goal is to translate these findings into a clinical platform technology applicable to Parkinson’s disease, chronic pain, and a range of other brain disorders. Recent publications include work on the modulation of limbic resting-state networks by subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation (2023) and studies examining transcranial focused ultrasound in Parkinson’s disease (2026).
