Professor Pereira has a distinguished career marked by leadership roles including former Director of ENSP NOVA, President of the Associação Portuguesa de Economia da Saúde (APES), Editor-in-Chief of the Portuguese Journal of Public Health, and President of the Conselho Geral of the Escola Superior de Enfermagem de Lisboa. He has advised international bodies such as the World Health Organization, the European Commission, DFID-UK, and the World Bank, and contributed to numerous Portuguese government committees on health policy.
