Dr. Jiwanjot Singh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology, Silchar, Assam, India, currently serving on lien. He earned his Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, Punjab, India, in 2008, Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, in 2011, and a full-time Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, Haryana, India, in 2018. With approximately six years of teaching experience, his research interests include power converters and their control, multilevel inverters, control of renewable energy systems, and power quality improvement systems.
Dr. Singh has contributed to the field through several publications, such as 'Automated Space Charge Classification Inside ±500-kV HVDC Cable Insulation Using Fusion of Superpixel and Deep Features for Remote Condition Assessment' (2023), 'An assessment of H-bridge less grid-tied multilevel inverter with minimum device count and lesser total standing voltage' by Debela Awas and J. Singh (July 2023), 'High‐gain nine‐level switched‐capacitor multilevel inverter featuring less number of devices and leakage current' (April 2023), 'Single DC Source Boost Multilevel Inverter (SSBMLI) Based Soft Charging with Minimum Device Count' by T. Debela Awas and J. Singh (2022), and 'Voltage control in power system using PI controlled CMLI based STATCOM' by J. Singh and J. Kumar (2011). He has four journal publications and three conference presentations, including one international and one national. He has supervised Ph.D. students including Akshit Agarwal (completed July 2021, on multilevel inverters and grid-connected inverters), Tamiru Debela (ongoing, modular multilevel converters for motor drive applications), Ramudu Ganji (ongoing, LVRT control techniques), and Abhishek Singh (ongoing), as well as one postgraduate student. Dr. Singh received the TEQIP Scholarship during his Ph.D. and an Excellence in Academics award in his B.Tech. He handles a DST project and serves in administrative roles such as Associate Warden of Married Scholars Hostel, DUPC Secretary, Faculty Advisor of Cricket, and Lab-in-charge of Power Electronics Systems Research Lab and Project Lab.
