Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Jibrail Kansedo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Energy Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Science at Curtin University Malaysia. Holding a PhD in Chemical Engineering (2015), MSc in Chemical Engineering (2009), and BEng (Honours) in Chemical Engineering (2006) from Universiti Sains Malaysia, his research focuses on renewable energy, including biofuel, biodiesel, and biohydrogen production; bioplastics such as polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA); reaction engineering encompassing catalytic reactions, kinetics, and conversion mechanisms; and extraction and characterization of plant oils, fatty acids profiles, and bioactive compounds.
Jibrail Kansedo has a substantial publication record consisting of 42 ISI-indexed journal articles in outlets such as Bioresource Technology and Chemical Engineering Journal, two book chapters including one on Waste oil to Biodiesel in Advanced Technology for the Conversion of Waste into Fuels and Chemicals, 10 indexed publications, and 15 conference publications. Recent publications include works in Bioresource Technology Reports (2025) by Hamid-Reza Alizadeh et al. and Bioresource Technology (2025) by Sook Wei Lim et al. He has earned numerous honors, such as the Silver Medal for “PB/Ag Nanoemulsion: An Antimalarial Supplemental Aid” at the Malaysia Technology Expo 2024, Gold Award for “Development of Facile Self-Assembly Magnetic Hybrid Nanoflowers Biocatalyst” at CITREX 2023, Top Contributor for External Project Award 2022 from Curtin University Malaysia, Best Lecturer (Student Choice Award) for Chemical and Energy Engineering in 2023 and for Chemical Engineering in 2019 and 2018, Best Paper Award at CUTSE 2018, Bronze Medal at URCE 2017, and multiple Sanggar Sanjung Awards for journal publications from Universiti Sains Malaysia (2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014). As Chair of the Occupational Safety and Health Committee (OSHC), he also leads logistics teams for international conferences including the International Conference on Energy Transition and Exhibition 2024.
