One of the things I appreciated most about her teaching style is how much she encourages critical thinking and analysis rather than simply expecting students to memorise information. Her lectures encourage you to think more deeply about the topics being discussed, ask questions, consider different perspectives, and develop your own understanding of the material. This makes the learning experience much more engaging and rewarding. She is also extremely supportive and approachable, which makes a huge difference as a student. During the lectures, I had the opportunity to ask her a number of questions, and she was always willing to take the time to answer them properly and explain things in a way that was easy to understand. I never felt uncomfortable asking questions, even when I was unsure about something or needed a concept explained in more detail. She creates a very welcoming and comfortable learning environment where students feel encouraged to participate and are not made to feel embarrassed for not immediately understanding something. Her attitude towards students is genuinely encouraging, and she makes you feel like your questions and contributions are valued. This is especially important when studying more challenging material, as having a lecturer or supervisor who is willing to support you can make a significant difference in how confident you feel. The organisation of the course and the work is another aspect that I really appreciated. The material is presented in a structured and understandable way, and expectations are generally explained clearly. The organisation makes it much easier to keep track of what you are supposed to be doing and understand what is expected of you. I never felt like the work was unnecessarily confusing or poorly explained, and whenever I did have questions, she was very helpful in providing clarification. Overall, I have had a really positive experience with her as a lecturer. She is extremely knowledgeable, genuinely passionate about her subject, supportive of her students, and very good at explaining difficult concepts clearly. She encourages students to think critically and independently while also making sure that they have the support they need to succeed. Her enthusiasm for biogeography and her wider academic background make her lectures particularly interesting, and her friendly and approachable personality creates a really comfortable learning environment. I would definitely recommend taking her class. She is the kind of lecturer who makes you feel supported while also encouraging you to challenge yourself and think more deeply about what you are learning.
