Rate My Professor Jennifer Sofie

Jennifer Sofie is a Clinical Professor in the Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing at Montana State University, where she has served since August 2006. She holds the position of Graduate Campus Department Head and acts as the first academic advisor for newly admitted Master of Nursing (MN) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree-seeking graduate students. Sofie earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Colorado Denver in 2013 and her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of Washington, specializing in Adult/Older Adult Nurse Practitioner and Occupational Health Nursing. Her career at Montana State University includes roles such as Program Coordinator for the DNP/Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program from August 2021 to December 2022 and family clinical coordinator for the DNP program. She teaches courses focused on advanced clinical primary care for midlife families, primary care skills, and advanced clinical primary care for geriatrics.

Sofie's research interests encompass primary care, preventative care, and chronic disease and illness management. She was recognized with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners 2020 State Award for Excellence as a Nurse Practitioner in Montana. In 2019, she was accepted into the distinguished Edmond J. Safra Visiting Researchers Program at Harvard Medical School's Center for Neurobiology of Parkinson's Disease and Massachusetts General Hospital's Institute for Neurodegenerative Disease to enhance care for patients with Parkinson's disease. Additionally, she served as the AANP Montana State Representative from July 2021 to July 2022. Through her long-standing commitment to nursing education and clinical practice, Sofie contributes significantly to preparing advanced practice nurses in Montana.
