Jennifer McCord is an Assistant Professor in the Business Management department at Columbus State Community College, contributing to the Business & Economics faculty. She possesses an MBA from DeVry University's Keller Graduate School of Management and a BSBA from The Ohio State University. In her role, she is the Lead Instructor for several key courses, including 21st Century Workplace Skills (BMGT1008 for College Credit Plus), 21st Century Supervision (BMGT1210), Business Ethics (BMGT2216), and Business Management Seminar/Practicum (BMGT2901). These courses emphasize contemporary business competencies, supervisory skills, ethical decision-making, and practical application through seminars and practicums.
Beyond teaching, McCord has demonstrated exceptional dedication to student success, receiving the Student Advisor of the Year award in 2025 while serving in the Business and Paralegal Programs. She is a prominent figure in sustainability education, acting as faculty advisor and contact for the Sustainability Student Group. Under her guidance, the group has organized events such as Taste of the Future volunteer opportunities and overseas sustainability boot camps. She was recognized as Faculty Director for the group in community climate action plans. McCord presented her work on "Building Career Skills Through Student Sustainability Initiatives" in a poster session at the Teaching Professor Online Conference, showcasing how student-led initiatives foster career development. She also authored the open educational resource "21st Century Workplace Skills," available through OhioLINK OER Commons under a CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0 license, enhancing access to business education materials.
McCord represents Business Programs on the Academic Council and participates in dual enrollment initiatives for BET Business Programs. She has been listed as a member of the Business Cluster Faculty Panel for Ohio transfer pathways. Additionally, she received a 2025 Cougar Paw award for her contributions. As a tenured assistant professor, her interests in theater, live music, babbling brooks, historic architecture, and dog-friendly venues reflect a well-rounded profile that enriches her engagement with students.
