Jennabeth Fuge holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) and serves as the Surgical Programme Co-ordinator in the Department of Surgery and Critical Care at the University of Otago, Wellington, within the Division of Health Sciences. In this key administrative role, she coordinates three essential modules for the medical programme: the fifth-year Musculoskeletal and Skin Module, the sixth-year Surgery Module, and the sixth-year Emergency and Acute Care Module. Her comprehensive responsibilities include preparing detailed student timetables and associated paperwork, arranging clinical placements for students, managing and updating content on the Moodle online learning platform, organizing all module assessments, and responding to general student and staff enquiries related to these programmes. She is also recognized as an Administrator for Divisional Services and as the University of Otago Wellington (UOW) Education Unit Administrator, contributing to the smooth operation of educational activities across departments.
Jennabeth Fuge has demonstrated commitment to student welfare by participating in the establishment of food pantries on the Pōneke campus alongside Co-ordinator Student Experience Trevor Williams and students Olivia Wright and Janindu Pahalawatta. On 3 October 2024, she presented 'The Unexpected Wonders of Taxidermy' during the 3MM series at the University of Otago Wellington, showcasing her interest in unique topics. Furthermore, she has provided practical support in research efforts, earning acknowledgements in scientific publications such as 'Progression of renal disease in interleukin-4 transgenic mice' for assistance with animal work, 'Inhibition of mitogen-induced murine lymphocyte proliferation by urease-positive Helicobacter pylori' (2001) for support in experiments, and 'Anti-inflammatory Activity of an Oil Derived from Perna canaliculus' for help with experimental procedures. Her ongoing professional contributions support the delivery of high-quality medical education and student services at the institution.
