Jeffrey Bohler serves as Department Chair and Associate Professor of Management Information Systems in the College of Business at Auburn University at Montgomery. He earned his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Auburn University in 2009, focusing his dissertation on the impact of education technology on Department of Defense financial manager continuing education programs. Bohler also holds a Master of Military Operational Art and Science from Air University in 2000 and a Bachelor of Science in Information and Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1985. His professional career encompasses extensive military service and academic roles. Bohler retired from the U.S. Navy as a Commander after serving from 1985 to 2008. He then progressed at Troy University from Adjunct Professor (2008-2010) and Lecturer (2010-2013) to Assistant Professor (2013-2019) and Associate Professor (2019-2023). Joining Auburn University at Montgomery in August 2023, he advanced to Department Chair on August 1, 2024.
Bohler's research specializations encompass data-driven decision-making in business curricula, educational technology impacts on professional education, information systems curricula evaluation, business analytics integration, predictive data mining, student engagement in online STEM courses, and machine learning applications including phishing detection. He has contributed key publications such as "Can Social Media Make Us More Trusting?" with J. R. Drake, R. R. Paul, and E. L. Kisling in the Journal of Electronic Commerce in Organizations (2022); "Prescriptive analytics: Optimization of fertilizer supply to meet demand using linear programming" with D. W. Todd, B. Larson, and E. F. Smith in the Journal of Business Cases and Applications (2022); "Evaluation of Information System Curricula" with B. Larson, T. Peachey, and R. F. Shehane in the Journal of Information Systems Education (2020); and "The Financial and Non-financial Aspects of Developing a Data-Driven Decision-Making Mindset in an Undergraduate Business Curriculum" with A. Krishnamoorthy and B. Larson in the e-Journal of Business Education and Scholarship of Teaching (2017). Bohler teaches courses including Management Systems, Technology, and Data; Data Analytics for Competitive Advantage; and Data Analysis for Managers. His service includes chairing the AI Faculty Search Committee, MS MIS and MS AI AOL Committee, and College of Business Strategic Planning Committee, along with roles in dean searches and outreach. He earned the ISI Reviewer Bronze Badge in 2023.
