Jeanette A. Jefferson is the Human Resources and Payroll Director in the School of Science at Indiana University Indianapolis, a position she holds within what was previously known as Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis. With a distinguished career spanning more than 25 years at the institution, Jefferson has demonstrated unwavering dedication, earning formal recognition through the university's staff milestone programs. In 2018, she was celebrated for reaching 20 years of service alongside other long-term employees in the School of Science. She explained that prior processes often involved errors like mistyped Social Security numbers, necessitating additional submissions and payments, resulting in significant delays characterized as "a waiting game that sometimes required expertise in handwriting analysis." The improved system facilitates direct and secure entry of personal data by applicants, thereby expediting onboarding and reducing administrative burdens. Furthermore, Jefferson routinely acts as the designated contact for high-level faculty searches within the School of Science, such as the recruitment for a Tenured Associate or Full Professor position in Physical Activity and Brain/Mental Health in the Department of Psychology. She also participates as a Wellness Ambassador for the School of Science Human Resources Administration, fostering health and well-being initiatives.
