Dr. Haberfield has contributed significantly to the veterinary field through publications and leadership. He co-authored 'Exotic Animal Practice in Australasia' in Veterinary Clinics of North America: Exotic Animal Practice (2024). He contributed the chapter 'Veterinary Care of Venomous Reptiles' in the book Venomous Reptiles and Their Toxins. His involvement includes providing tissue samples for the study 'Divergent bornaviruses from Australian carpet pythons with neurological disease' (2018) and presenting on Nidovirus associated with respiratory disease in reptiles at the 2024 Unusual Pet & Avian conference proceedings. Currently serving as President of the Unusual Pets Chapter of the ANZCVS, he advances standards in exotic pet medicine. His clinics' work was featured in the 2022 TV series 'The Bizarre Pet Vets' on 9Gem. Additionally, he has engaged in fieldwork such as microchipping Western spiny-tailed skinks and filming with king cobras in India. Dr. Haberfield has supported Murdoch University as a donor listed in annual reports.
