Humberto Rodriguez serves as Department Chair of World Languages at Tarrant County College District’s Northeast campus, where he also instructs Spanish courses. Listed as the primary contact for Spanish at the Northeast campus, he oversees programs that deliver comprehensive language education focusing on oral expression, listening comprehension, grammar, writing skills, vocabulary development, and Hispanic cultures. These courses meet university foreign language requirements and are part of the core curriculum in Language, Culture, and Philosophy. They prepare students for careers in fields including business administration, education, government, engineering and technology, law and clerical positions, medicine and nursing, tourism and the airline industry, as well as translation and interpretation. Rodriguez additionally appears as contact for German courses, indicating the department's scope under his leadership.
In his career at TCC, Humberto Rodriguez has championed experiential and global learning opportunities for students. He led a study abroad trip to Cuba in 2018 as part of a Spanish class, enabling participants to practice language skills with native speakers and immerse in the culture. Rodriguez has taken part in several such international trips, even as a former student himself. He has highlighted the profound effects of these experiences, observing students' excitement in real-world application, their emergence from shells, and subsequent pursuit of degrees or independent travel. As World Languages Department Chair and International Festival Committee chair, he has organized cultural celebrations like the Northeast International Festival, though the 2025 event was abandoned due to SB-17 compliance processes encountered after his fall faculty development leave. Rodriguez further supports student achievement as a member of the Phi Tau Chapter advisor team for Phi Theta Kappa at TCC Northeast, which received the Distinguished Advisor Team Award at the 2022 PTK Catalyst Convention.
