About Hui

Associate Professor Hui Zhong Shen serves in the Sydney School of Education and Social Work at the University of Sydney, part of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Throughout his career at the university, he has undertaken various senior leadership roles, shaping the direction of educational research and administration. Shen's academic interests center on teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL), with a particular emphasis on Chinese English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. His research investigates self-regulated strategic learning in English medium instruction courses, the role of mobile technologies in fostering learning strategies, interactions with AI-programmed chatbots for language acquisition, and educational entrepreneurship within Australian community languages schools.

Shen has produced numerous peer-reviewed publications that advance the field of technology-enhanced language pedagogy. His body of work includes approximately 10 research outputs with 194 citations on ResearchGate.
