Hue Vuong is an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Western Australia School of Agriculture and Environment. She is a multi-disciplinary researcher interested in agricultural and resource economics, evaluation, purchasing and selling activities in enterprises, and economic management. Hue started her career as a Lecturer at Thuongmai University (Vietnam University of Commerce) in 2009, where she remains a Lecturer and Researcher. She holds a Bachelor of Economics from Thuongmai University (2009), a Master of Economic Management from the same institution (2014), and a PhD in Agricultural Economics from UWA (2022), with her doctoral thesis titled "Food safety in Vietnam: Perceptions, behaviours, economics and policy." Following her PhD, she has worked as a Research Assistant and Research Associate at UWA School of Agriculture and Environment since mid-2021. Since November 2022, she has also served as an Evaluation Officer at the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development in Western Australia. Throughout her career, Hue has gained substantial knowledge and experience in agricultural and regional development projects in both developed and developing countries, collaborating with diverse stakeholders including academics, professionals, farmers, food processors, and community members.
Her research aims to utilize evidence-based data to achieve efficient and innovative resource use for enduring outcomes. Expertise areas include food safety, environmental, resource and agricultural economics, management of natural resources and the environment, selling and purchasing goods and services in enterprises, and evaluation. Key publications feature "Vietnamese consumers' willingness to pay for improved food safety for vegetables and pork" (Vuong, H., Pannell, D., Schilizzi, S., & Burton, M., 2024, Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics) and "Gender and rural transformation: A systematic literature review" (Rola-Rubzen, M. F. et al., 2023, Journal of Integrative Agriculture). Her PhD thesis has garnered 1737 downloads. Hue contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.
