Professor Hla Hla Yee serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Dental Medicine, Yangon. She earned her B.D.S. from Yangon, M.D.Sc. from Yangon, Dr.D.Sc. in Orthodontics from Yangon, Dip. Med.Ed. from Yangon, and holds the fellowship F.I.C.C.D.E. In her role, she leads the orthodontics department, contributing to dental education and research in orthodontic treatment and malocclusion management within Myanmar's dental academic community. Her academic interests focus on orthodontics, as evidenced by her departmental leadership and publications in this field.
Professor Hla Hla Yee has co-authored several research papers in orthodontics. Notable publications include 'A study of Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN) and perception of personal dental appearance among dental students' (2020), conducted at the University of Dental Medicine, Yangon. She contributed to 'Dentoskeletal Changes of Skeletal Class III Malocclusion with Severe Facial Asymmetry after Orthognathic Surgery: Case Report,' published in the Journal of Dental Science - UDMY. Additional works feature 'Soft Tissue Cephalometric Measurements in Selected Myanmar Adults Using Holdaway Analysis' with May Thazin Chit and Aung Moe Lwin, and studies on orthodontic needs among adolescents in Yangon with Ei Ei Hsu Hlaing and Yee Yee Myo.
