About Henny

Hae Won (Henny) Jung is an Associate Professor of Finance and Deputy Program Director for the Master of Finance program in the Department of Finance, Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne. She joined the university in 2012 as a Senior Lecturer after earning her PhD in Risk Management and Insurance from Georgia State University in 2012. Previously, she completed a Master of Science in Management Engineering from KAIST in 2007 and a Bachelor of Science in Management Engineering from KAIST in 2004. Throughout her tenure at Melbourne, Jung has progressed in her academic career, contributing to both research and education in finance.

Jung specializes in corporate finance, industrial organization, risk management, and insurance. Her publications feature prominently in top-tier journals. Key works include 'CEO Talent, CEO Compensation, and Product Market Competition' with Ajay Subramanian in the Journal of Financial Economics (2017); 'Ownership Structure, Incentives, and Asset Returns' with Ajay Subramanian and Qi Zeng in Management Science (2024); 'Watch Your Basket - to Determine CEO Compensation' with Neal Galpin, Lyndon Moore, and Ekaterina Volkova in Financial Management (2019); 'Capital Structure under Heterogeneous Beliefs' with Ajay Subramanian in the Review of Finance (2014); 'Minority Rules: Credible State Ownership and Investment Risk' in Organization Science (2018); and 'Search, Product Market Competition and CEO Pay' with Ajay Subramanian in the Journal of Corporate Finance (2021). In 2015, she and Qi Zeng were awarded an internal research grant of AUD 15,000 from the Faculty of Business and Economics. Jung supervises PhD students, including serving as a supervisor for theses on topics such as dual ownership and corporate finance.
