Dr Hayley Farrell is a clinical psychologist, Board Approved Supervisor, and Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology in the School of Psychology within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of New England (UNE). She holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Financial Administration (Honours), both obtained from UNE. In her roles at UNE, Dr Farrell serves as Course Coordinator for the Master of Professional Psychology program and Deputy Director of the Postgraduate Psychology Programs. Her expertise spans clinical practice, education, and research, where she plays a key role in training postgraduate psychology students through innovative programs, including fully simulated online clinical placements.
Dr Farrell's research interests include work disability prevention, assessment and evaluation of psychological competencies in postgraduate psychology training, clinical psychology, nutritional psychology, and sport psychology. She supervises PhD and honours research projects in nutritional psychology and clinical psychology. Key contributions to the field encompass co-authorship of the publication 'A telehealth, group-based intervention for birth trauma: A pilot feasibility and wait-list control trial' by Sundaraja, C., Cosh, S.M., Lykins, A.D., Farrell, H., et al. (2024) in JMIR Preprints, and involvement in the funded project 'Supporting Mothers in Regional NSW: Decreasing the impacts of birth trauma,' which received $26,707.68 from the Peregrine Centre Small Project Grant in 2024 as part of a Rural Mental Health Partnership with NSW Health. Her commitment to excellence in teaching and student learning has earned her the Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning (2023), Vice-Chancellor Citation for Education Excellence (2023), Faculty Citation for Education Excellence (2023), and School Citation for Education Excellence (2021). These recognitions highlight her significant impact on clinical psychology education at UNE.
