Dr Hamza Shakeel is a Reader in the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at The Queen's University Belfast. He contributes to the Engineering faculty through his roles in multiple research centres including Energy Power and Intelligent Control, the Institute of Electronics Communications and Information Technology, and Material and Advanced Technologies for Healthcare. His verified research specializations encompass MEMS based chemical sensors, MEMS based oscillators for mass sensing, miniaturization of analytical systems, development of Internet of things based sensor systems, microfluidics, functional nanomaterials, micro-sensors, lab-on-a-chip technologies, metrology, micro-gas chromatography separation columns and detectors, MEMS based liquid and gas sampling, MEMS oscillators, and quartz crystal microbalance sensors. He accepts PhD students and has projects available in advanced semiconductor manufacturing and glass manufacturing using 3D printing. Dr Shakeel has authored numerous outputs including 20 articles, 10 conference contributions, 9 papers, and 1 peer-reviewed chapter. Dr Shakeel has received the 3rd Prize Poster Presentation award at the Graduate Research Symposium in Blacksburg in 2014 and an Early Career Travel Grant in 2019. He is involved in multiple research projects as principal investigator and co-investigator. His professional activities include invited talks, hosting visitors, and public engagement. He maintains an active profile with equipment access such as Agilent Gas Chromatography System, SRS QCM system, and Laser Doppler Vibrometer. Dr Shakeel continues to advance sensor technologies and related fields at The Queen's University Belfast.
