Gwen Cuthbertson serves as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Prescriber at the University of Otago Student Health service in Dunedin, part of the Division of Health Sciences. She joined the Student Health team in 2008, contributing to primary health care for students. Gwen completed her nurse training in Auckland and subsequently worked overseas, acquiring international nursing experience. Prior to her current role, she worked as a ski nurse in Queenstown, where she combined her nursing expertise with skiing.
Gwen Cuthbertson has special interests in travel medicine, vaccinations, and female sexual health. In June 2022, she was enrolled in training alongside other Student Health registered nurses to gain prescribing rights. She is also listed as a trainer for long-acting reversible contraception procedures, such as intrauterine device insertion and removal, operating from Dunedin and available to travel in Otago and Southland. Outside of her professional duties, she enjoys travelling, sailing, fishing, skiing, and gardening.
