About Gnanou Florence

Dr. Gnanou Florence Sudha is a Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Puducherry Technological University, Puducherry, India, with over 30 years of experience in academic teaching and research. She completed her B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering as the topper of her batch from 1988-1992 and earned the Pondicherry University Gold Medal for outstanding performance in her M.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from 1992-1994. Throughout her career, she has held significant administrative roles including Head of the Department, Chairperson of the Board of Studies for ECE at both Pondicherry Engineering College and Puducherry Technological University, and expert member for AICTE scrutiny and expert visit committees, affiliation committees for Anna University, and doctoral committees across multiple universities such as Pondicherry University, University of Johannesburg, and BIUST Botswana. She has also served as Principal Investigator for major funded projects, including the MeitY-sponsored 'Design and development of UWB Hospital Asset Tracking System SoC' granted Rs. 86 Lakhs in 2023, DST project 'Feasibility study on the Development of an instrument for noninvasive prognosis of dengue' with Rs. 21.21 Lakhs from 2014-2016, and AICTE RPS 'Autonomous wireless health monitoring system' with Rs. 9 Lakhs from 2011-2013. Dr. Sudha has supervised 14 Ph.D. candidates to completion and is currently guiding five more, while establishing specialized labs like Embedded Systems and TI Innovation lab.

Her research specializations encompass signal processing, image processing, biomedical engineering, and VLSI design. Notable publications include 'Scalogram based prediction model for respiratory disorders using optimized convolutional neural networks' (Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, 2020, 94 citations), 'Adaptive speckle reduction in ultrasound images using fuzzy logic on Coefficient of Variation' (Biomedical Signal Processing and Control, 2016, 60 citations), 'STQCA-FFT: A fast fourier transform architecture using stack-type QCA approach with power and delay reduction' (Journal of Computational Science, 2022), 'Design and Analysis of 30 GHz CMOS Low-Noise Amplifier for 5G Communication Applications' (IETE Journal of Research, 2023), and 'Hybrid Sparrow Search Optimization technique for Quality of Service Cooperative Routing in Underwater Acoustic sensor networks' (Physics and Chemistry of the Earth, 2022). She has received the M.S. Valiathan award at Biovision 2001 for 'Digital Watermarking of medical images using Wavelets', best paper award in 2006 for 'Security solutions at network level in Manets', and various appreciation certificates as a top-performing NPTEL mentor and reviewer for Springer and Elsevier. Additionally, she holds a granted patent 'Noninvasive body fluid monitor' (Indian Patent No. 542571, 2020) and has served as guest editor for special issues in International Journal of Advanced Intelligence Paradigms and IJCSIS.
