Rate My Professor GEORGIOS DIMITRIOU

Georgios Dimitriou is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications at the University of Thessaly. He holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, awarded in 1988 with a grade of 9.55/10, as well as Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, completed between 1989 and 2000. His academic career at the University of Thessaly includes roles as visiting teaching staff in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science from 2001 to 2017, followed by his appointment as Assistant Professor in the field of Parallel Computer Architectures in October 2017. Since September 2019, he has served as director of the Laboratory for Computer Architecture, Compilers and System Security.

Dimitriou’s research focuses on parallel computer architectures, multithreaded processors, compilers, high-level synthesis tools, power estimation in wireless sensor networks, and related areas in computer engineering. He has contributed to projects involving task scheduling, loop scheduling techniques such as Macro-Software Pipelining, the NoFun processor architecture, optimizations in the CCC high-level synthesis tool, and hardware development for encrypted processors and image processing.
