About Georgina

Georgina Baronian serves as Assistant Professor and Director of the Rice Building Workshop at the Rice University School of Architecture, aligning with her expertise in Architecture and Design. She earned her Master of Architecture from Princeton University and a Bachelor of Environments in Architecture from the University of Melbourne. A registered architect in New York and Texas, Baronian is also the principal of clovisbaronian, an architectural practice based in Texas. Her research and practice center on the interrelation of climate and aesthetics, exploring how conventional ideas of thermal comfort can be reimagined through spatial, experiential, and aesthetic dimensions. This focus manifests in full-scale prototypes like Cloud Canopy, which won the Next Generation Global Prize from the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction, and Paper Roof, funded by the Ohio State Energy Partners Grant. These projects investigate innovative, nonmechanical methods for conditioning outdoor urban environments.
