Professor George Condous is a Professor of Gynaecology in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. He holds the position of Associate Professor within the Nepean Clinical School and serves as Head of Discipline in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Sydney Medical School Nepean. As a clinical academic gynaecologist, his special interests lie in advanced gynaecological ultrasound and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He contributes to the Nepean Translational/Clinical Obstetrics and Gynaecology Group and supervises four MD students whose projects focus on early pregnancy complications and the use of ultrasound in women with endometriosis.
George Condous earned his MBBS from the University of Adelaide and MD from the University of London, and he is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG). His research specializations center on gynaecological imaging, robotic and laparoscopic surgery, ultrasound diagnosis of deep pelvic endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy, and early pregnancy management. His work has garnered over 17,782 citations on Google Scholar. Notable publications include 'Non-invasive imaging techniques for diagnosis of pelvic deep infiltrating endometriosis: an evidence-based protocol' (2024, Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology), 'Ultrasound as a noninvasive diagnostic tool to detect deep endometriosis' (2025, Fertility and Sterility), 'A protocol for developing a core outcome set for ectopic pregnancy' (2021, Trials), 'Transvaginal Ultrasound Can Accurately Predict the American Fertility Society Stages of Endometriosis' (2020, Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology), and 'The accuracy of transvaginal ultrasonography for the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy prior to surgery' (2005, Human Reproduction). Professor Condous chaired a six-step protocol for ultrasound diagnosis of deep endometriosis and is listed among Sydney researchers ranked in the global elite. He serves as President of the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine.
